Tracing back to each incident of my life, it seemed Miraqules was destined for me. It all started when my father had an accident. The bleeding could have killed him as it could not be controlled with my clothes or gauze or whatever was available at that point. Thanks to God – with timely medical intervention my father survived, but that horrible incident left me with a fear of the total nothingness of death.

I believe it was destiny that two years later, I was at NIT Rourkela working under Dr. Devendra Verma on biomaterial-based hemostats. Under his guidance, I developed a novel, cost-effective manual process to produce porous & fibrous compounds that mimic human blood clotting protein – fibrin. These compounds were found to be almost 10 times more effective in causing hemostasis than our body’s own blood clotting mechanism and almost 5 times faster than the existing commercial blood clotting agents.

The need for hemostats was obvious to me but Miraqules took off when Mubeen shared his experience of witnessing seven people bleed to death on a single night. He trusted and envisioned the invention, and decided to venture along with me. He resigned from his surgeon’s position at a reputed hospital & joined hands with me in building Miraqules. Certainly, the invention was no longer confined to the lab. Today, Miraqules’ StopBleed has advanced into clinical trials and the company is backed by national & international organizations. We are guided and advised by renowned biomedical engineers & doctors. To date, Miraqules has raised around INR 1.6 crores ($210K) as non-dilutive and INR 3 crores ($400K) as dilutive funding. Miraqules is set on a path to revolutionize the industry with its scalable wound management technology platform, and more importantly saving lives from severe bleeding. The ulterior motive is to address all the gaps in wound management with our novel, cost-effective hemostatic products.
